A good livestock protection dog (LPD) is the best investment you can make if your livestock are at risk from predators. We have owned several different breeds of LPDs in the past but when our first pair of Akbash Dogs arrived, they were quick to show us the special qualities they possess that make them truly exceptional. With the correct training, they are calm, quiet, well-behaved, affectionate, loyal and devoted to the animals in their care. When faced with a potential threat (e.g. an unknown person entering the barn), they bark a warning until they are reassured that everything is okay. If the threat is real, they will protect their herd!
After working with these dogs and seeing how well they protect our dairy goats, we decided to become breeders of these wonderful dogs so others could know that their animals are safe if they have an Akbash Dog in the barn!
Below are pedigrees and photos of our Akbash Dogs.
